A full day guided trout spin fishing trip begins at 7:30 a.m. when your guide meets you at a previously agreed upon location. You'll fish until 3:30 p.m. Lunch can be either a box lunch eaten while you continue to fish or a cooked shore lunch lasting between an hour and a half to two hours.
When you meet with your guide in the morning he'll discuss with you what type of trout fishing action you prefer: 1.) Catching a lot of smaller trout, or 2.) Fishing for trophy trout. When fishing for smaller trout you'll catch anywhere from 25 to 50 rainbows each from 11 to 14 inches long. You will enjoy catching a lot more trout than trophy fishing, but the fish will be smaller. Some guests also want to fish the more scenic parts of the river. If you aren't sure where or how you want to fish, your guide will explain your options.
When trophy trout fishing you'll catch fewer but much larger trout. Any trout weighing four pounds or more is considered a trophy trout. You might catch only one or two fish all day, or you may catch 5 or 6. You may fish for hours without a bite. You may also catch trout weighing 6 to 12 pounds, or even bigger. Collectively GTO guides have caught hundreds of trout weighing over 10 pounds each, 44 trout weighing over 20 pounds each, and 4 trout weighing over 30 pounds each. GTO guides are highly qualified to help you catch the trophy trout of your dreams!
Regardless of where and how you want to fish, we provide rods, reels, lines, lures, baits, nets, soft drinks, water, and anything else needed except your fishing license and trout permit. We have the right line size, right line color, and right rod action. If fresh, live bait is to be used (worms, night crawlers, crawdads, minnows) it is normally caught by your guide prior to your trip. We provide artificial lures at no extra charge. If you prefer to bring your own tackle we recommend light action rods with 4 to 6-pound test line. Line color is very important. Use green, fluorocarbon, or clear line only. Blue lines do not work!
